Congratulations! If you're moving to the New Castle County or the Greater Wilmington area or considering it, you've found some great communities to call home.
The Best of the Everything
Whatever the season, our area is jam packed with wonderful things to do, whether you visit our world-renowned museums and cultural attractions, stroll in our sumptuous public gardens, enjoy the cultures and delicious foods of our many festivals or explore one of our historic districts. You can have it all -- from dinosaurs and sea shells to tall ships and more.
If it's music you enjoy, we go from cool to hot jazz, to blues, Gospel and rock. Perhaps an ethnic festival strikes your fancy? We have Greek, Polish, Italian, Hispanic, Afro, Chinese and German to name a few. It's all here in Greater Wilmington, Delaware.
Endless Opportunities
Your new home in Delaware and Greater Wilmington's Brandywine Valley sparks a journey through the history and culture of America's past, even while you experience the vitality and energy of our future. Throughout the city and surrounding area, 18th- and 19th-century architecture sits side by side modern office towers and shopping centers and area attractions, amenities and dining reflect this same blend of historic charm and dynamic modern-day life. The advantages of living "south of the canal" are more land and more home for your money. Also, if youre lucky enough to commute north, you get a front row seat of sunrises and sunsets on the river while traveling over the bridges to work and home again.

The waterways in Delaware offer some lucky residents a picturesque view.

Look What is Waiting for You
Middletown is one of the most desirable areas in Delaware. Once a farming community, it has been expanding rapidly in the last 15 years. It is now THE premier bedroom community for Wilmington and Philadelphia. Located a stones throw from Route 1, which feeds directly into I-95, I-495, and I-295 you can quickly get to work and cultural events, while still enjoying the tranquility of country living. Downtown Middletown and Historic Odessa demonstrate Old World Charm with their turn of the century architecture. We have local theatre, and a fabulous Senior Center in town. The surrounding country roads open to acres of fields, quaint farmhouses, barns and silos. There is a real feeling of wide-open spaces, and were blessed with fabulous sunsets. Within 5 minutes of town is Lums Pond State Park, which has hiking, swimming, canoeing, boating, fishing, and picnicking. Its a fabulous place to get up close and personal with nature.

Once you settle into New Castle County, your family will never want to leave.

The Best of the Modern World
But all this rural comfort wont keep you from enjoying the best of the modern world either. Situated strategically in the North East Corridor, were within an hour of Philadelphia, and Baltimore, and a few hours to New York or Washington DC. The Amtrak Train stations located in both Newark and Wilmington, make the commute, for work or pleasure easy and practical. And Wilmington, with its professional and amateur theatres, Russian Ballet, Opera house, museums and Winterthur gardens is close enough to visit to anytime. The rather large Christiana Mall (over 100 stores: including Lord and Taylor, Macys, Strawbridges, and Penneys) is only 20 minutes away, and the mammoth King of Prussia Mall is only about 1 hour away. The beautiful Delaware beeches are a quick one hour drive. And if you really want to travel, the Philadelphia and the Baltimore International Airports are only 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours away. Of course, boating on the Chesapeake Bay, which is right in our backyard, may be more your style. Or you may be into a few rounds of golf. Dont worry; weve got you covered there too! Delaware certainly is a little wonder, and the Middletown area is its crown jewel.
